Susan Whigham is a traditional style artist, mostly self taught, working in watercolour and oils, her subjects being mainly horses, landscapes of the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales, and floral studies. She has worked as a professional artist for 25 years, developing her natural skill with hard work and infinite patience.

Susan is known for her evocative scenes of the Ribble Valley, many featuring the well known and easliy recognised silhouette of Pendle Hill. She has a great love and knowledge of horses, and this is reflected in her equestrian paintings, of which she is considered by many to be a one of the county's finest. She often undertakes commissions for equestrian portraits, and has paintings in collections throughout the world.

In recent years she has taught painting classes for the local colleges and held private classes and demonstrations, for which she is in great demand, at a time when adult education has been constrained by lack of resources, she has had to restrict the the size of her classes.

Her paintings can been seen at Frames and Pictures, King St., Whalley, Lancashire or viewed by appointment. Currently two prints featuring scenes of Pendle Hill are available.
